Company Health & Safety policy


All staff will endeavour to work with regard to their own safety, their colleagues and that of others. You will not take any risks that could result in injury to persons or damage to property.  Our foreman will insist that all their staff work with safety paramount at all times.

  • Look for hazards in the residence that might cause someone to trip and fall.
  • Ensure your staff are aware they must not leave any tools lying around that the clients children could pick up and or endanger anyone.
  • Do not let children play on site or in your vehicle.
  • Do not let clients or family help you lift anything.
  • Do not stack unsafely in the client’s residence.
  • Always lift correctly (i.e. with a straight back, bending at the knee joints)
  • Ensure that any accidents, injuries or incidents are reported to Alan Bloomfield. All accidents however minor should be written in block capitals in the accident book provided.
  • All power tools to be 110 Volt. All transformers to be plugged into RCD 240-volt extension leads for your own protection. If 110v not available you must use the RCD.
  • You are provided with hardhats, First aid kits, A Fire extinguisher and blanket, Goggles, Ear protection, Gloves, eyewash. Please use them, they are for your own safety. Steel toe capped boots to be worn at all times whilst on site.
  • Absolutely no smoking is permitted in the vicinity of the client’s property. If you wish to smoke you must go out into the public road.
  • Keep all walkways clean, tidy and free from tools and materials.
  • When loading skips always check the area is clear. Make sure all debris is loaded into skip before leaving site. Skip to be secured with tarpaulin and cord. Skip to be lit with skip lights provided. Check batteries regularly.

The Company recognises that it has a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to safeguard as far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all staff at their place of work. The Company’s Health & Safety Policy is displayed on the notice board and you are required to comply with it together with any other safety procedures that may be issued from time to time.  You are reminded that you are responsible for ensuring that you act in a safe and sensible manner whilst at your work place and failure to do so will lead to disciplinary action by the company and possibly criminal proceedings under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

You must use and operate equipment and machinery in the appropriate manner prescribed. In cases of gross negligence, disciplinary action will be taken.  When instructed to do so you must wear the protective equipment and clothing provided.

Accidents at Work
You must report any accident immediately to your manager or a trained Health and Safety officer, who will ensure that it is recorded in the official Accident Book. Should a situation arise where you need a First Aider to help, please contact Alan Bloomfield immediately.

As a bystander, you may be required to help and your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
